Description
This listing is for an antique 4 key wooden flute made by Firth Hall & Pond in New York between 1833 and 1847. The flute is an estate item and has not been played in many years. The upper joint, head joint, heartpiece, and foot joint are all stamped with "FIRTH HALL & POND N-YORK" and the heartpiece is also stamped with "4251". The joints are made of ivory and the four keys are nickel-silver. The flute is about 24 inches long overall and is in good condition considering its age, but will almost certainly need some repairs if it is to be played. The heartpiece and foot joint have some hairline cracks and there is also some minor cracking on the joint between the two. A crack can be found in the wood which is covered by the metal section (see pictures). This remarkable and rare flute is sold as-is, so please take care to thoroughly inspect all photos prior to purchase.
