Becker Radio Security Codes
Becker radios installed in vehicles prior to 1986 did NOT have a Theft Security Circuitry.
Mercedes-Benz Models
:
1986 -1987: Radio Model 754
- This radio has an internal Lithium Battery that is used to hold the back-up memory. As this radio reaches nearly three-decades of operation, there are cases where the Lithium battery dies. When this happens, the radio can be triggered into the Theft Mode (four double-dashes -- -- -- --) at the first time the vehicle battery is disconnected. If this happens, the radio will need to be removed and shipped to us where we will repair / reset and deactivate the Theft Mode.
1988 - 1989: Radio Model 780
- The Theft Mode of this radio can be accidentally triggered, usually by accidentally forgetting to reconnect the theft connection tab on the bottom center of the radio bottom cover when dashboard related services are provided and radio reinserted. The Theft Mode will be triggered the first time the alarm is set on the vehicle (four dashes -- -- -- --). If this happens, the radio will need to be removed and shipped to us for repair / reactivation. While here, we will disable this feature from accidentally triggering in the future.
1990 (Model 1480) -1993 (Model 1432)
- This radio has a four-digit Theft Security Code assigned to it based upon the radio serial number. When the vehicle was originally delivered, a special card containing the security code was provided. When the vehicle battery is disconnected, the radio will revert to the CODE on the display. If the code number was lost, provide us with the radio serial number and we can help to obtain the proper reactivation code. There is a $20 research fee for this service.
1994 - 1997: Radio Model 1492 (1692)
- This radio has a five-digit Theft Security Code assigned to it based upon the radio serial number.
1998 – 2002: Radio Model 3302/3309/6003
- This radio has a five-digit Theft Security Code assigned to it based upon the radio serial number. When the vehicle was originally delivered, a special card containing the security code was provided. When the vehicle battery is disconnected, the radio will revert to the CODE on the display. If the code number was lost, this model allows the customer to access the radio serial without removing the radio from the dash: With the radio turned on, press the TEL and # buttons simultaneously. Press the FFWD button and scroll through until the serial appears on the display. Provide us with the radio serial number and we can help to obtain the proper reactivation code. There is a $20 research fee for this service.
Porsche Models
:
1996 – 2002
:
Radio Model CDR(CR)210 / CDR(CR)220
- These radio models all have a four-digit Theft Security Code assigned based upon the radio serial number. The radio may revert to CODE in cases where the vehicle battery power is interrupted. When the security code is lost, the four-digit CODE number must be entered to reactivate. If the code was lost, Becker offered a submenu to allow you to view the serial without removing the radio (CR220 and CDR220 ONLY). With the radio turned on, press and hold the TP button for 10 seconds until BECKER 1 appears. Immediately rotate the right control knob two clicks clockwise. The serial number will display. Provide us with the radio model and serial number and we can help you to obtain the proper code. There is a $20 research fee for this service.
2003 – 2008: Radio Model CDR23 / CDR24
– These radio models do NOT have a Theft Security Code Number. They have a far more sophisticated system that links and stores the radio serial to the vehicle speedometer cluster. This linking prevents the transferring of radios from one vehicle to another. When the cluster does not recognize the proper stored radio serial, the radio will display PROTECT and the radio operation will be blocked. We do have the ability to clear this feature if required. The radio would need to be removed and shipped to us for repair / reactivation.
