This is a pretty light celery green Prasiolite. Prasiolite is quartz and often referred to as Green Amethyst. Most Purple Amethyst turns into Orange Citrine when heated, but when it is heated to green it is then referred to as Prasiolite. Heat treating is an accepted treatment in the gem trade as most stones today are heated to enhance their color. This trillion shaped Prasiolite is 10mm across and 6mm deep as you can see in the photos of the gem in the milometer gauge, and weighs about 2.60cts. It has been cut in a modern Quantum cut. The Quantum cut is a term the jewelry trade uses for stones cut with concave facets that are curved or 3-dimensional, rather than the traditional flat 2-dimensional facets. This cut which scatters more light to the interior of the gem that radiates outward to ensure extra brilliance.It is a beautiful modern cut. This stone is transparent and appears clean to the naked eye. The light reflections show up as black highlights in the photos,but there is no black in this stone - it is a pale shade of green with a high light reflection.
I have decided to sell some gemstones that at one time I had the intention to use, but never got around to it. I always say the weight is "about" a certain amount of carats because I realize that not all weight scales weigh in exactly the same and can be off by a tiny fraction up or down, but all in all the weight calculations are fairly accurate.
